Expertise and Responsibility: How Yasemin is Shaping the Industry

“Stay curious, brave and solution-oriented.” This is Yasemin Sen’s advice to young professionals who want to make their mark in the industry. When it comes to young women in particular, Yasemin encourages them to step confidently into technical or managerial roles, believing that diversity sparks fresh ideas and brings valuable perspectives.

Yasemin has been a part of thyssenkrupp for seven years. For almost two of those, she has been working at Uhde High Pressure Technologies, a subsidiary of thyssenkrupp Uhde, where she leads the Profit Center for High Pressure Processing (HPP), Waterjet Cutting (WJC) & Supercritical Fluids (SCF).

In her role, she is responsible for both the operational and strategic management of these business areas, driving key growth initiatives, from process optimization to the development of international site projects.

Shaping Technology

A versatile role with plenty of responsibility – exactly what Yasemin was looking for when she switched from thyssenkrupp Bilstein to Uhde High Pressure Technologies: “This job was a conscious choice for me because I enjoy having creative leeway and taking on responsibility. I love the way we work together as a team to develop technological solutions that make a global impact.”

Her personal highlight: the transformation from a pure product supplier to an OEM – a clear and tangible step toward the future.

Right now, the team is focusing on expanding the product portfolio with a new product development. This initiative clearly shows how Uhde High Pressure Technologies is driving technological innovation forward, making Yasemin’s work especially inspiring.

Developing Sustainable Solutions Together

As a manager, Yasemin is committed to fostering the strengths of each team member and creating a space where collaborative solutions can thrive. The Profit Center is built on a closely-knit, cross-functional team with a wide range of team members including colleagues from Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Sales. “Not a single day is the same – and that’s what motivates me”, Yasemin says.

Taking responsibility – and acting responsibly – play a key role in Yasemin’s work as Head of Profit Center. In terms of sustainability, this means more efficient processes, resource-conscious production, and technologies that create real value in high pressure processing.

Equally important to her is the sustainable development of her employees: Yasemin empowers everyone on the team to grow, contribute their own ideas, and take on responsibility.

“Sustainable success is only possible when we balance the economic, technological and human aspects”, says the engineer.

Diversity as the Future of Industry

Yasemin aims to inspire young women in particular by setting an example as both an engineer and a manager. She serves as a role model not only in her professional life, but also for her younger sister and her six-year-old daughter. In her spare time, Yasemin enjoys spending time with her family and recharges through Reformer Pilates, reading, and traveling: “It helps me gain new perspectives for my work”, she explains.

For Yasemin, Uhde High Pressure Technologies is a place defined by teamwork, openness for change and the interplay of tradition and innovation. Collaboration is key: “At Uhde, we act in concert.” The competencies required go far beyond technical expertise – communication, teamwork, and a willingness to take responsibility are equally essential. And above all: “Success does not come from perfection but from curiosity, openness and the courage to question things.”
