thyssenkrupp Uhde's experience in the engineering and construction of urea plants spans several decades. We are an approved engineering contractor of the world renowned licensor Stamicarbon. We engineered and constructed the first urea plant using Stamicarbon's carbon dioxide stripping process and were also chosen as Stamicarbon's engineering partner for the first pool reactor unit in DSM's new urea plant at Geleen, Netherlands.
With Uhde Fertilizer Technologies' acquisition of the fluid bed granulation technology for urea developed by Yara, thyssenkrupp Uhde now has unlimited access to this world-famous granulation technology. In the last twenty years thyssenkrupp Uhde has designed and built no fewer than 19 new urea plants and revamped numerous more. These references include the world's largest single-train urea plant with a nameplate capacity of 3,500 metric tons per day and an actual performance of nearly 4,000 metric tons per day built for Yara in Sluiskil, The Netherlands. Also the largest UAN units were built by thyssenkrupp Uhde, e.g. 4,300 tons per day in Donaldsonville, La., USA and Wever, Ia., USA. The 3,450 ton per day urea plant in Algeria passed its performance test in 2013 as well as the 3,500 ton per day plant in Ruwais, United Arab Emirates.
