IGBC silver rating

For the industrial sector, achieving green building certification is a purposeful step toward balancing operational needs with environmental responsibility. At thyssenkrupp Uhde India (tkUIPL), the effort is to continually improve the ecological footprint of essential infrastructure, guided by the principle of sustainability and our motto: “Innovate. Integrate. Impact.”

tkUIPL is proud to announce that IOCL’s EPCC-9 CDWU facility for LuPech at the IOCL Gujarat Refinery has received the Green Building Silver Rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

This accomplishment demonstrates our ability to innovate despite unique challenges in the sector.

The project team implemented tailored solutions, including the use of renewable energy for auxiliary loads and specialized water conservation strategies, specifically designed for the complex and safety-focused environment of a refinery.

These innovations were seamlessly integrated into the project’s core, incorporating energy-efficient building systems, certified sustainable materials in non-process areas, and robust waste management practices into the facility’s design and construction. This ensured both operational integrity and compliance with IGBC standards, resulting in a meaningful impact.

The facility now operates with improved energy efficiency and a reduced carbon footprint, meeting the rigorous requirements for the IGBC Silver rating and setting a new standard for sustainable infrastructure in the industrial sector.

IOCL (Owner) and its Principal EPC Contractor, tkUIPL—represented by Mr. Ashutosh Joshi and Mr. Nitin Kelkar—received the award from Mr. Jeff Oatman, Head of Collaboration & Membership at the Green Building Council Australia and the World GBC Asia Pacific Network. They were joined by consultants Shashwat Green Building Consultants, as well as Manisha Phadtare and Apurva Vibhute from tkUIPL.

This recognition reinforces tkUIPL’s ability to meet the evolving demands of building sustainable, future-ready energy infrastructure.
