tkUIPL attended the inauguration ceremony for the 650 MTPD Phosphoric Acid Plant and 2000 MTPD Sulphuric Acid Plant projects of Coromandel International Limited at the Kakinada Unit, Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Parag Chepe, Chief Engineering Officer & Executive Director – Engineering, was felicitated at the event in the presence of the senior management of Coromandel International Limited.
tkUIPL is executing the two projects on EPCM services for the entire complex and, additionally, providing License and Basic Engineering for the Phosphoric Acid Plant. The 650 TPD Phosphoric Acid and 2000 TPD Sulphuric Acid facilities are designed with advanced, state-of-the-art processes: DCDA (Double Conversion Double Absorption) from MECS, USA, for the production of Sulphuric Acid, and DA-HF (Dihydrate Attack-Hemihydrate Filtration) from Prayon, Belgium, for the production of Phosphoric Acid.
This facility will enhance Coromandel’s backward integration capacities and provide stable supplies of phosphoric acid for its fertiliser manufacturing by replacing more than 50% of the Kakinada plant’s imported acid requirement. With a capacity of around 2 million tons, Coromandel’s Kakinada plant is India’s second largest phosphatic fertiliser facility.
